Attention All Players!
Due to Greatest Journal no longer allowing people to create new journals, and may die out, we've switched houseofnight to Insane Journal. It's an exact copy of Greatest Journal and will not take a long time to adjust to. We feel that many of you have come to the fact that this is an amazing game that you enjoy and love. The new journal can be found here. We hope that many of you will come over and join.
Hurry up and put your PB on hold before someone else does! All Current Members are garunteed a PERMANENT hold until they apply.

| FAQ |
[Sep. 21st, 2007|08:52 am] |
How long are PB holds good for? PBs are held for 48 hours.
How do the characters receive their mark and how it might effect them? For the Mark, your character can recieve it anywhere. They could either have recieved it during a football game, at the mall, at school, any other public place of that sort. When they recieve their Mark, their skin grows pale and their eyesight changes to the point it pains them to be out in the sun hense the reason they attend school at night.
When do they start developing vampiric traits? As for devoloping vampyre traits, this begins around their fifth or sixth form, sometimes earlier, they start growing a lust for blood and they're Mark begins to become filled in.
Do their parents have to pay for their actions? Some parents may not react as well as the others. Some of them are expecting this to happen to at least one of their kin due to their ancestors being a Vampyre, and others simply shun their children and send them off to the House of Night.
Is picking PBs not on the wanted list acceptable? You may use which ever PB you would like to use, as long as you have five or more icons of them.
Can the professors be played? Yes, they are also acceptable in the game as long as you play them correctly. The professors for each class isn't exactly a canon. You can make up their personality and such.
What do the forms mean? This question is answered by this post, and explains the majority of it.
When making our application, do we have to have a journal and rp example for you to look at? You must have a journal for your character and as for rp examples, the biography for your character is your rp example.
If you have any questions about the game or anything in general about it, comment here with your question - we don't bite. |

| Rules |

I'm not going to be too in depth with the rules since everyone should know them by now.
Never never never mix up IC and OOC drama. We lose too many good players that way! And it's simply wrong.
No godmodding whatsoever! If someone is godmodding, tell the mods right away and we'll see that it'll never happen again. Also, it's flat out lame for someone to pratically tell you/your character what to do.
You must update your character at least every two weeks. We're hoping that you'll update more then that though. It's a lot more fun to have a moving friends list than one that hardly moves.
Journal names can either be OOC or can deal with their name. Same goes for AIM screen names. Please keep the x's and underscores to a limit. One or two is okay, but over three x's or underscores and we will not accept your application. As for AIM, you must be online at least three times a week.
If you have any issues OOC and need a hiatus, please PM the mods about it so we know for sure who who and who is on hiatus. You can also post in the OOC community to let the other players know.
Experinced writers please! I can not stress out how annoying it is to have only a once sentence log per reply. Those of you that are detailed and loving RPing, join right away. If you're new to RP, yet you know how to log, then please join us.
Writing must contain correct spellings and puntactions. Not everything has to be captitalized.
We usually don't see this happening, but if for some reason you don't feel as though the PB you are using fit the background or you just made the wrong decision in whom you would like to be then you get one chance to change. Once and that's it. Don't abuse it. Also, a mod needs to be informed and approve the change before you can use him/her.
No more than two characters per person. If you already have a character that's not very active and you try to apply for another, we won't accept the application.
Storylines are all up to you guys. As long as their isn't rape, murder, or cutting. Yes, those are real life situations, but not everyone does those. As for pregnancies, contact the mods before you do the line. Maybe two or three girls can get knocked up, but not the entire female population. No baby booms! Pregnancies last about eighteen weeks. Every two weeks representing one month of the nine months.
To post storylines, you can introduce yourself and tell everyone about your character in the OOC community. Hopefully that'll be better than having an SL community.
Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals - we love them all. Like pregnancies, not everyone is gay. Four to six each is fine, but not everyone is either of those.
As for RPing in the main community, please use the following format. Who : What : When : Where : Rating :
And the log should be under a LJ cut.
I believe that's it.
Welcome to House of Night and we hope you have fun here! |

| Classes & Dress code |
[Sep. 21st, 2007|08:15 am] |
There are different forms in the House of Night. Third form, fourth form, fifth form, and sixth form - another thing the House of Night adapted from present day highschools. The following forms are determined by ages. Third, age 15 - 16. Fourth, age 16 - 17. Fifth, age 17 - 18. Sixth, age 18 - 19.
Classes begin at dusk and end at 3 am. All students shall be in bed by at least dawn. Every student must wear their uniform everday to classes, expect for the weekends. Each form has a different crest on their uniform to distunguish one form from the other. Third formers emblem is the silver labyrinth of Nyx which represents the new beginnging as the new students start walking the Path of Night and learn the ways of the Goddess and the possiblities of the students' new lives. Forth formers emblem is the golden wings of Eros which reminds them of Nyx's capacity to love, and the wings symbolizes the continuous movement foward. Fifth formers emblem is Nyx's golden chariot pulling a trail of stars, the chariot shows that the students continue on Nyx's journey, the stars represents the magic of the two years that have already passed. Sixth formers emblem is Atropos holding scissors to symbolize the end of school.
With the uniform, girls must wear either the uniform blouse with their crest or a sweater. Same goes for the boys. Though, the dress code isn't very strict, everyone can make their uniform orginal. Maybe stick pins on their shirt collar, add additional stitching [as long as it doesn't cover the crest], anything and everything of that sort. Jeans, skirts, shorts, normal clothing are allowed to be worn with the uniform shirt/sweater. All the staff asks for is that skirts/shorts for girls have to be past their fingers tips. If not, it will resolve in detention and cleaning out the stables. As for boys, underwear must not be shown, nor should the pants/shorts be "sagging".

It’s been proven by scientists and researchers that there truly exists a race called vampyre. Defined by the blue crescent-shaped mark on the forehead, a vampyre is Marked and subsequently leaves for the House of Night to begin “training.” Some may call it ghoul school, some may call it...well, whatever they like, but no one can predict if or when a teen will be Marked. Humans denigrate and fear it, and the unlucky individuals who now have this bodacious mark on their foreheads have a lot to deal with -- a change of life, a new school, and getting used to those who share their fate. Oh, and not to mention bloodlust and the rituals the Dark Sons and Daughters present.
The House of Night is a private boarding school for those Marked by a Tracker - an oasis for young fledglings. The Highpriestess, Neferet, is what humans would call the "principal" of the House of Night. The schooling system also has mentors, classes, class schedules, teachers, just like any other highschool - but instead of going to school with humans, you have your classes with other young fledglings.
Your goal is to make it through the House of Night without your body rejecting the Change. But no one knows for sure who will die from the Change. You can only hope that you're not one of them. There's no need to be afraid of death - brace it and use it to become more knowing in the ways of vampyres. |
